HUGE SUCCESS FOR PONTEFRACT STUDENTS IN GCSE RESULTS

The King’s School and Carleton High School, both members of Pontefract Academies Trust, are celebrating GCSE success today.
Two students from The King’s School achieved an incredible set of results comprising off all 9s. 9% of students across both schools achieved all 7-9 grades in all subjects (A-A*). 52% of students at Carleton High School and 59% of students at The King’s School achieved a grade 7-9 (A-A*) in at least one subject.

Dominic Pinto, Headteacher at The King’s School said: We are extremely proud of all our students and the resilience they have shown, and we wish them all the very best in the future. On behalf of our students, I would like to thank all my colleagues who have worked hard to ensure that our students have been able to tackle the last 18 months with confidence and parents/carers who have supported them.”

Jo Cross, Headteacher at Carleton High School said: “We’re incredibly proud of all our students and delighted that they have reaped the rewards of consistent hard work. These students have been through a turbulent time and faced the challenge of remote learning, yet have still come out with fantastic results. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

Elliot Prentice, Head Boy at The King’s School, achieved an incredible all 9s and has consistently produced work to an exceptional standard in all subjects in all five years at the King’s School. His achievements are down to hard work and commitment and a desire to always challenge himself to do his absolute best. In his final year he secured the prestigious role of Head Boy and once again proved what an exceptional young man he is, excelling in this role. We are confident that Elliot will be successful in his A levels. He has chosen to study Biology, Geography and PE at New College, Pontefract.

Rebecca Roach, student at Carleton High School achieved a fantastic set of results with three 9s, five 8s and one D*. Not only has Rebecca achieved an excellent set of academic results, she has also made phenomenal progress in her subjects. Throughout her five years she has shown an outstanding attitude to learning.
